A1 DISPATCHES NABISUNSA TO FURTHER EMPHASIZE THEIR AMBITIONS

A1 DISPATCHES NABISUNSA TO FURTHER STATE THEIR CASE The A1 Challenge team made a statement by winning after a freak loss to KIU Rangers, in what was considered a lackluster performance, and was so evident on court. Bazira Liz had a game high 21 points and that was enough to thrust A1 Challenge to another win. Full time #67:39#

A1 CHALLENGE LEFT SHOCKED AFTER A 75:44 DEFEAT TO KIU RANGERS.

If i was watching a movie, "freak-show" would be the genre; but this performance is in-excusable to say the least of words.

The ladies are very well aware that the performance was below par and Coach Jeff is keen on boosting the morale in the camp before the Nabisunsa game.

Back to the basic combination of hard defense (nothing-goes-past-you) and fluidity in gel as far as precision is concerned.

One thing that we are in agreement is that things have to change and real fast. Big men being fed earlier, to precise execution of every offensive move, to hard hussling and fighting for every loose ball in the paint.

KIU Rangers players in ,Judith Nansobya, Susan Amito, Florence Nanyonga, Jacklyn Natocho also scored and gelled well, hussled defensively and Nanyonga's resilience was quite a thorn for the A1 Challenge defense.

Whether or not not it was an off-day for the A1 Challenge outfit, the form needs to be re-discovered and real fast at that. Because in the end consistency in results counts for alot on the stat board and players confidence even as we'll soon be entering the play-offs.

Ntale Vickie scored 14 points and Bazira Liz 10 points to summarize a dismal show from the ladies.

Nabisunsa is the next opponent for the A1 Challenge team and its on Sunday at 5:30pm.

A1 CHALLENGE FACE TRICKY GAME AGAINST KIU RANGERS ON SUNDAY AT 5:30PM

The last time these two teams met in the first round fixture, April 2012, was an emotional moment for the entire camp considering the circumstances prior to the game, but A1 Challenge triumphed fiercely 66:52.

This Sunday, A1 Challenge seek to build on their victory against Makerere Cubs last week. It's not going to be easy at all because of the game approach that the KIU Rangers deploy, but Coach Jeff Omondi will not settle for a less than performance.

The gel that the team had last week will have to be replicated against the KIU Rangers even though the opponents are much bigger on average than the Cubs ladies.

KIU triple threat of Judith Nanyonga, Hanipha and Jacqueline is to be carefully watched and neutralized by the day's A1 defense.

Inspirational captain Ntale Vickie in scintillating form amassing 28 points and Maggie 21 points last week which were key in the rout on Cubs. Similar performance needs to be upheld and flaws ironed out especially in the rebounds [offensively and defensively] because every game is considered an opportunity to improve further on the general team philosophy.

With a huge number of players resting in the game against the Makerere Cubs, there will be a whole lot of fresher legs out on court; Angie Lokidi, Khisa Marie, Kakkazi Carol, Mugasha Carol, Olivia Mulwana, Kabuji Larry, Doreen Irakoze, Aggie among others will be returning to boost the options for Coach Jeff Omondi.

Game time is Sunday 17:30hrs

Till then, have a lovely weekend.

A1 CHALLENGE BOUNCE BACK WITH A RESOUNDING GONG... BEATING MAKERERE CUBS 84:13

The saying goes' "A proud heart can survive a general failure because such a failure does not prick its pride." If there was anything A1 Challenge have learn't with time is that when you are beaten, dust yourself and get back up again.

After last weeks loss to UCU Lady Canons which ended 61:48, one thing run in the mind of the players, and that thing was made clear today. Team work, offensive precision and hussle till the final whistle.

Game kicked off at 11:00am, with Team A1 Challenge clad in their unusual yellow jersey, and Makerere Cubs in their white outfit.

A1 Challenge run riot in the first quarter with their captain Ntale Vickie on point in every offensive execution attempt. By the first quarter the points were 17:0 in favor of A1 Challenge.

The second quarter had Team A1 Challenge pick up from where they had left off in the first quarter to push their score to 42:1.

Makerere Cubs duck was broken by their small guard Rashidah in the free throw area to the applause of their sympathizers, scoring one of her two free throws.

Nalubega Maggie had a decent game offensively sinking 5 three pointers and had an over-all 21 points to her name. With the flow of the ball evenly shared among team A1 Challenge players, swinging the ball to the arc area that constantly stretched the Cubs defense of Gloria, Hana Kalanguka and Christine, to find a free shooter who constantly punished them for the loose defense.

The leadership of their guard Kyomugisha Gloria has to be highlighted who constantly controlled the tempo of the game with the number two Birungi Mariam helping her in possession distribution and threading the defense to offense transitions from which Okot Barbra, Ntale Vickie and Liz Bazira constantly pounced on.

The full court press eventually totally chocked the Makerere Cubs free flow, if they had a free flow any way. Rashidah constantly was left with no options in as far as having an outlet for the ball is concerned which constantly frustrated Aggie their big man who was left isolated for most of the game because the defense was closed on the top making the feeding of their big man real difficult.

By the fourth quarter Nakazibwe Sylivia was brought in so that Gloria Kyomugisha could rest.

Fredrikah got fouled out more for the concern of Coach Jeff Omondi.

Eventually, the game was called to an end with the score board reading 84:13.

Point to note is that most of the Cubs points where scored from the free throw area whereby they were forced to drive in and pick those fouls which if they had taken advantage of, the score could have probably been a little more respectable.

Players that featured:

Bazira Liz
Ntale Vickie
Fredrikah M
Okot Barbra
Birungi Mariam
Nakazibwe Sylivia
Meg Maggie
Kyomugisha Gloria

A few of the A1 Challenge players that did not feature were seen on the bench like Lokidi Angella, Dorcus Bagiire.

Scoring Rate:

Ntale Vickie - 28 points
Meg Maggie - 21 points
Bazira Liz - 15 points
Birungi M. - 07 points

Job well done. On to the next. Together we can do much much more.
Nice weekend ladies

A1 CHALLENGE FACE MAKERERE CUBS TOMORROW AT 11AM IN YMCA.

With the loss last week to UCU Lady Canons still fresh on their minds, A1 Challenge seek to bounce back.

They will be welcoming back their guard Sylivia who was away for her school in the regional tournament.
Also Fredrikah should be available for action.

The A1 camp is upbeat prior to game-time but do so with caution and more collective individual responsibility.
