MAGIC STORM HITS HARD 61:46

MAGIC STORMERS   61:46   A1 CHALLENGE

Like an unexpected storm, Magic Stormers raided and left A1 Challenge exposed and wanting in all departments.

If the first cut is the deepest, then the second hurts much more. Friday evening showcased a master piece performance by the Magic Stormer’s outfit coming off a fault-start in their league opener. On the other side was A1 Challenge also coming off a season opening defeat to KCCA Leopards.

This game, from what history has to say, promised hustle and a gutsy performance and we saw this. The Magic Stormers players came in hard running riot from the start of the game clearly showing urgency and hunger to their play. Doubling their lead in the 3 quarters against A1 Challenge [6:18], [15:35], [23:46], and by the fourth quarter we witnessing damage control by the 2005 Champions. The game eventually ending [45:61]

With the acquisition of Ms. Kalanguka Bridget from Makerere Sparks, one of the vital Sparks players who went with the player exodus off-season, beefing further the Stormers bench. They even had the luxury of resting experienced Ms. Sylvia Meeme who only featured later on in the game, to maintain the fight and resilience.

A1 Challenge had a pretty slow start to the game and contrary to their game against KCCA Leopards, they looked below par in all departments, and it’s we call a “bad-day-in-office” for the team.

Defensively and offensively, it was nothing short of disappointing. Without a clear cut go-to player in the paint area, hither to the fact that there was a slump in other departments. Something that Magic Stormer’s showed is that they did their home work on and came prepared for the rain.

Disappointed and broken was the mood in the A1 Challenge camp, and spirits were dampened after the loss. It’s clear what we should expect in this coming weeks training session. Having been accused of taking their feet off the gas in the last lap, drills on resilience and endurance till the final whistle are expected. Put a thumb on the part of the script where they ought to perfect on the shooting and its consistency especially from Birungi Mariam, Olivia Mulwana and Barbra Okot for instance.

A1 Challenge so far are [0-2] and play their next game in two weeks against KIU Rangers, clearly it’s quite an amount of time for a resurgence to spread through every player who clads on the A1 Challenge jersey. Ms. Nakazibwe Sylvia highlighted how it’s enough time to put the agony of defeat behind them, and right the wrongs that have been exposed in their opening two games. But having said this, nothing is coming easy this season and that’s for sure.

A1 Challenge playing without Angella Lokidi, Khisa Marie, Kakkazi Carol, Bazira Liz, Larrisah and Fredrikah. Whether they are going to feature this season we wait to see.

Also the experience of Kyomugisha Gloria is yet to be seen since she hasn't had enough playing time. We only hope to get the right blend of experience and youthful enthusiasm to thrust the team to higher heights.

However, seeing F. Harriet and Hatima Kassim back to the squad was a point to note, though we have to work on our fitness as a unit. BECAUSE TOGETHER, WE CAN DO MORE FOR SURE.

THE MAGIC STORM HITS HARD......61:45

THE MAGIC STORM CAUSES DAMAGE 61:45

If at all there was a case of a bad day in office for the A1 Challenge outfit, this was one of those days, when everything you do and try to work out fails to click.

The feeling you get when you miss the weather report and travel light only for sudden rains to hit you and disorganize your program of the day, would not suffice to fully comprehend and elucidate what happened in Lugogo as A1 Challenge was out played and out smarted by the Magic Stormers.

If there's anything to learn from this, it's that hard work pays and we ought to step it up ASAP because nothing is coming easy with the current format of the game which has two divisions of the ladies league.

Game details and stats will be uploaded shortly.

The struggle continues

MAGIC STORMERS FACE A1 CHALLENGE THIS EVENING

WEEK TWO:

A1 Challenge will be looking to recover from their opening day loss to KCCA Leopards. They succumb to a 76:60 defeat, but the score sheet doesn't reflect the true picture of what a great spectacle it was.

Magic Stormers also seek to bring their magic touch as they approach this game following their fautly start to then season.

Game time is 6:00pm.

PS: This fixture promises wits, gutsy and hussle in the true sense of the word. Miss at your own peril.

KCCA LEOPARDS DRAW FIRST BLOOD.

KCCA LEOPARDS:  76        A1 CHALLENGE:    60

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The FUBA league got under way this evening and indeed it did not disappoint. A1 Challenge got up to an intense start, with decent shooting from Okot Barbra, Nalubega Maggie and Mulwana Olivia.

If there was anything to take from the loss, it was the decent shooting and resilience from some of their players. Clearly if this is a sign of things to come then we are in for one heck of a decent season.

Kyamazima Dorothy, back to A1 Challenge after a year with the Makerere Sparks and clearly her defensive discipline is still top-notch. With a couple of steals and 5 points to her name, the blend with Barbra Okot and Nakazibwe Sylvia and Aggie clearly cohesiveness is not going to be an issue.

KCCA Leopards with acquisitions like Claire Lamono and Karungi Charlyn, to boost their experienced side, adding to Carol Nantalo, Namayega Josephine, Nakiwu and Flirsh Flavia to mention but a few.

Their strategy was clearly to keep the difference close and come the final quarter they ran riot scoring from fast breaks and all as the A1 Challenge outfit took their feet off the pedal defensively and offensively.

Mulwana Olivia said, "We were clearly so tired in the last quarter clearly, but we will work on ending with the same intensity as the beginning"

With Aggie, Barbra Okot and Ntale Victoria fouled out, there was clearly no coming back from the drop zone.

Without Bazira Liz, Khisa Marie, one can only hope that this will be a year to remember the ladies for the statement that they will leave on and off court.

Kudos to Okot Barbra whose resilience and heart saw her score 16 points and over all she had a good game.

Good shooting combinations from Nalubega Maggie, Olivia Mulwana and Okot Barbra were surely lethal. Keeping the intensity throughout the season is surely going to be key.

Hard luck ladies, next game we make happen.

Nice weekend.

We Preview The Season Opener.....2013/14 FUBA LEAGUE

KCCA LEOPARDS   Vs   A1 CHALLENGE B.C

@ 17:30hrs

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<                >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Basketball season is finally here, and what better way to tip off than against the defending national champions in the Lugogo Indoor Court? KCCA Leopards and A1 Challenge have certainly generated the offseason buzz, what with sailent acquisitions and contract renewals.

However, not all the buzz is related to on-court activity, case in point, A1 Challenge tomorrow will be at Hotel Africana in what is deemed to be an event you wouldn't want to miss, the cause is fundraising for the girl child which is one of their core foundational principles.

A1 Challenge enter with a blend of youthful and an experienced lineup. KCCA Leopards on the other hand are the team to beat after having won the title last year. Oozing with confidence we surely expect this to be a crackling spectacle.

Granted, the A1 Challenge will likely start with a blend of experience and youthful exurberance while the KCCA lineup is still up in the air.

A1 Challenge welcome Kyamazima Dorothy back to the squad after a season with Makerere Sparks. She boasts of good shooting abilities and tactical discipline defensively.

KCCA Leopards aren’t exactly hyping this up as a coming-out party by any stretch. Rather, they know they’re defending champs and intend to remain with the title this year. We wait and see their approach as the season soon unfolds.

Having said that both teams intend to take a chance to make some noise and begin the season with a statement, or at the very least cement the building blocks for a future run. The game approach and tactics for this game we'll be seen come 5:30pm. All we are sure about is that it's a mouth watering fixture for sure.

See you there and please come with your game face on!!!!

Have a lovely weekend
