A1 Challenge Shrug Off KIU Rangers Resistance Taking Game One 54:49
A1 Challenge faced KIU Rangers in the women’s playoffs best of three series last Friday.
I guesss i can say deja vu' because this time last year A1 Challenge underwent the same KIU Rangers test and passed.
However, A1 Challenge struggled through the season because of inconsistencies in performances seeing them finish 5th in the regular season.
Having said that senior players in Mulwana Olivia and Ntale Victoria's joint effort did enough to see off the Rangers. It was so refreshing to see Mulwana Olivia sink those three pointer shots and both Victoria's Ntale and Ondiso cause havoc in the paint.
Seeing Nakazibwe Sylvia execute those plays finding the centre freed by the screen to sink those lay ups was real an outta the training court for sure.
Score Sheet
1. Ntale Victoria: 17points
2. Ondiso Vickie: 9points
3. Mulwana Olivia: 9points
4. Nakazibwe Sylvia: 8points
5. Kisuikye Carol: 7points

A1 Challenge Sees Off Sturbbon Nkumba Lady Marines 54:38
A1 CHALLENGE BEAT UP ON STUBBORN NKUMBA LADY MARINES 54:38
This fixture came in as Game two of the second round for the A1 Challenge outfit. And with sheer determination to finish way stronger than they started, a good result is all the A1 Team had in mind.
Following last week's win against the Makerere Sparks [52:25], Team A1 Challenge was seeking to continue in the same rhythm and this they did. Under Coach Jeff Omondi who kept his fingers on the pulse after the Nkumba Lady Marines proved a stubborn opponent to see off, going level [33:33] by the end of third quarter.
He devised an offensive tactic that saw the Vickie-duet score quick vital baskets and slowly create some day light between themselves and the Lady Marines.
With Vickie Ondiso and Vickie Ntale combining offensively with double figures, and the good team set up defensively, the fourth quarter surge by A1 Challenge was the difference in this fixture.
A1 Challenge are so far 2 in 2, since the start of the second round and will look to build on this result.
TEAM NEWS:
Nantongo Agnes is off for a week following the knock she got in their win against Makerere Sparks.
Dorcus Bagiire is on a long knee injury lay off.
PS: We go for a break as the FIBA Zone V kicks off this Sunday for a whole week, The local league will then resume in a weeks time.

A1 CHALLENGE BRUSHES OFF MAKERERE SPARKS RESISTANCE 61:40
A1 CHALLENGE: 61 MAKERERE SPARKS: 40
On paper Makerere Sparks has over the years been a team whose core foundation is hardwork, and A1 Challenge over the years have had to learn this the hard way and their consequential display is testament to that.
After her dismal start to the season, Okot Barbra has so far stepped up her game especially her shooting which is another element of her game we all know she has beneath her arsenal on top of her good overall defensive game. She chose this game to unleash one of her top all round performances in a while amassing 16points to her name.
She was closely joined by their all-round captain dependable Ntale Victoria who since her return to court has been relentless as we all know this is not news, because she simply leads by example week in, week out.
Makerere Sparks Chemutai Joy, since joining from Nabisunsa has been gutsy in her displays which she started showing from way back in her Nabisunsa days. She gunned a game high 20points but that was the only bright thing Coach Albert Aciko could have to focus on. Chemutai Joy was all the Sparks had to offer going forward.
This win for A1 Challenge puts them in a fairly good position after an awkward start to the season. With Coach Jeff Omondi and Mavita Ali being the perfectionists we all know they are, will expect a lot is from this A1 Challenge side and focus will shift on the more experienced players in the camp as well as the new signings in Kisukye Carol, Nassiwa Beckie,Birungi Joan and Obua Desire among others.
A1 Challenge Score Sheet:
Okot Barbra:::::::16points
Ntale Victoria::::13points
Birungi Mariam::::5points
Obua Desire:::::::5points
Nalubega Maggie:::5points
Makerere Sparks Score Sheet:
Chemutai Joy::::::20points

#39:49
With three losses in the bag, A1 Challenge couldn't afford a fourth consecutive loss and they made sure that Captain Vickie Ntale was fit and a part of the squad after sitting out Game Two and Game three due to personal reasons.
Ntale Victoria by far the most offensively effective player this season didn't disappoint gunning a game high 18 points and seeing off the Entebbe based Nkumba Lady Marines opposition

#MatchDay #GameFive #A1ChallengeVsNkumbaLadyMarines #50:29 #ForTheLoveAndTheChallenge
With Game five coming in almost thick and fast, Nkumba Lady Marines needed to quickly tighten up loose ends especially being solid in their defense and A1 Challenge needed extra support off the bench.
Like the saying goes, cometh the man cometh the hour. Ntale Victoria was again on target for the former champions gunning a game high 16 points. She, time and again showed her relentless effort when it comes to attacking the basket and making the points count.
Jacqueline and Okot Barbra also contributed 09 and 08 points respectively with the former having a decent defensively display which see's them record back to back wins.
They face another stubborn opponent in Makerere Sparks and they will all need to come to the party from the First quarter to the fourth quarter, especially considering that A1 Challenge are guilty of having slow starts to games and sometimes it plays a huge part in their down fall.
Jeff Omondi and Ms. Mavita Ali will hope the unit can pick it up and keep the winning momentum going on, as the teams confidence grows more and more.

KIU RANGERS FINISH STRONG TO SEE OFF A1 CHALLENGE 57:65
KIU RANGERS FINISH STRONG TO SEE OFF A1 CHALLENGE 57:65
Coach Nimrod Kaboha spoke about taking nothing for granted this season and fighting for everything having performed poorly by their standards last year.
Having lost their shooting guard in Judith Ayo to the defending champions UCU Lady Canons and afew other players, this win is testament to the fact that hard work pays.
A1 Challenge will have to do back to the drawing board and evaluate their lackluster start to the season. One can argue that the new players are still fitting into the squad and we can hope for a quick team chemistry working out soon. This year has to be a year of miraculous comebacks and the former champions have to get the monkey off their backs with combinations of hard work, team work and intensity all through.
UCU Lady Canons are also in a rebuilding phase having lost a number of their players in Namirimu Angella, Peace Proscovia and Amoding Maureen to mention but afew. Having said that, the title is up for the hungrier of all.

MAGIC STORMERS BEAT UP ON A1 CHALLENGE 57:48
MAGIC STORMERS BEAT UP ON A1 CHALLENGE 57:48
Magic Stormers, a slightly refreshed side with players like Ms. Susan Mirembe joining from Makerere Sparks, came in hungrier of the two and what a boost the transfer proved to be, seeing the agility and intensity she brought offensively. It’s going to be helpful going forward into the long season that awaits us all.
Despite games coming in thick and fast for the A1 Challenge outfit, there’s hardly time for marginal error. With the losses coming hugely as a result of simple mistakes (not picking rebounds, lack of precision of the free throw line). Individually, players will have to improve and fight for results with every game on the fixture sheet.
Earlier on in the off season, Captain Ntale Vickie mentioned about how the team is going to approach each game like it is the final. We need to see the game faces, mean defense plays, precise offensive execution plays. We have seen glimpses, but now every player wearing that jersey ought to honor it and give nothing but their very best, nothing worthwhile comes easy.
Together we can, so each player has to reach deep and rise to the challenge.

UCU LadyCanons 41:38 A1 Challenge
UCU LadyCanons 41:38 A1 Challenge
The UCU Lady Canons who have been head and shoulders over the rest of the teams in the league had to dig deep to grind off this win at the YMCA.
The defending champions clearly without the services of Amoding Maureen, Angella Namirimu and Peace Proscovia who have since moved on, had a fairly strong start in the first half.
But an inspired second half display by Barbra Okot with up to 16 points to her name, most of which came in the second half of the game, brought an intensely nervy end to the game.
A1 Challenge will have lots of positives to carry from this game, seeing that most of their other players in Captain Ntale Vickie, Carol Mugasha, Aggie, Patricia .K, Nalubega Maggie and afew others with technicalities being sorted.
This season is going to be close one and A1 Challenge will be relishing their chances because on their day they can be destructive. Seeing Lady Canons undergoing a rebuilding phase, it looks open for the taking but we need to pick up wins which will boost the team confidence most definitely.

A1 Challenge Turn On The Ignition With KIU Rangers....
The beginning of the season is monumental for the A1 Challenge outfit
according to the Captain Vickie Ntale. She says," teamwork is key because
together each achieves more. We are ready to fatten the cow with each
team we play. And we are playing each game like its a final."
KIU Rangers is the first hurdle to jump, and this evening
the A1 Challenge will have KIU to contend with.
