A1 Challenge Level Semi Final PlayOff Series With a 74:63 Win Over Lady Canons

A1 Challenge Level Semi Final PlayOff Series With a 74:63 Win Over Lady Canons

Having lost Game One of the semi final match against the Lady Canons, it was going to take a special
display and one heck of a improvement defensively and offensively.

Nakazibwe Slyvia, Bazira Liz, Maureen Amoding, Vickie Ntale, Vickie Ondiso and Barbra Okot provided a solid display
on both sides of the court so much so that the substitutes had to match their displays and this gave them solidity.
(Dorothy K, Mulwana Olivia, Joanah and Agnes Nantongo)

Despite the fact that UCU's Vilma and Purity were being contained A1 Challenge was not going to let the back court
loose seeing that is where they were greatly punished in Game One.

Maureen Amoding posted a game playoffs high 35 points and 6 steals to help A1 Challenge beat UCU Lady Canons 74-63
on Friday night at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

According to the skipper A1 Challenge can match Lady Canons in every sense if the girls give a little more.
If we can take out Ms.Purity Odhiambo and Vilma Achieng we can beat them”

The same hunger, offensive precision and tightness on the defense from quarter one through to the final whistle
will be needed.

The ladies need to maintain their concentration for the 40 minutes of the Game Three and this spreads to the help
coming from the bench too. The are expected to add valuable minutes when the starting five are being rested. Inotherwords,
there is no room for lackluster attitude and approach to the game.

A1 Challenge Sail Through To Beat Gladiators B.C [62:29] And Fall Short Against KCCA Leopards [43:50]

A1 Challenge Sail Through To Beat Gladiators B.C [62:29] And Fall Short Against KCCA Leopards [43:50]

Against the Gladiators, A1 Challenge came off back to back games and one who be weary of fatigue flashes
but some how the team rode on each others strengths and slowly dispatched off the resistance of the
of the Gladiators B.C.

A1 Challenge's shooting guard in Amoding Maureen came through scoring a game high 19 points with
Ntale Victoria with 8 points to her name, as for the Gladiators B.C their power forward Charlyn led their scoring with 7 points.

And a wrap up of the Sunday action, KCCA Leopards had a date with A1 Challenge, and this always guarantees
an intense match up, and surely it did not disappoint. Despite a bad knock on KCCA's power forward Claire Lamunu,
there were no injuries to worry about. KCCA led from Q1 to Q4.[14:10],[19:24],[44:32],[50:43].
With A1 Challenge's slow start, especially when it comes
to the top two, that is a luxury they can not afford come play offs.

A1 Challenge as it stands have lost all their 3 games against KCCA Leopards and 2 against UCU Lady Canons. This coming
Sunday presents their final opportunity to show a reaction against Lady Canons, because in one way or another they will
have to identify winning ways come play offs. In the absence of Namukasa Betty and Anyango Winnie, they rest of the team
really has to do their parts and step up come Sunday, if for anything, for their confidence.
Ms. Kassim Hatima led the offense with 10 points, Amoding Maureen with 09 points, Obua Dezyre with 08 points and Bazira Liz with 07 points. A1 Challenge's player of the game was without doubt Dezyre who initiated plays, drove in and shot, and her monstrous defensive touch too.

A1 Challenge have their final face off with UCU Lady Canons during the regular season on the [Sunday, 16 AUG] and have to figure out a way to break the Lady Canons dominance

A1 Challenge Bounce Back To See Off Amazon Rhino [62:23]

A1 Challenge Bounce Back To See Off Amazon Rhino [62:23]

This was surely going to be a long week for the championship contenders
in A1 Challenge B.C and following their Sunday loss to Lady Canons, there
was surely no time for a pity party.

Wednesday action had A1 Challenge B.C play against Amazon Rhino and this was
not going to be a push over, despite their mauling of Amazon in round one.

By the third quarter scores where as low as 36:11 (Advantage A1 Challenge) till
the flood gates opened and parity was shown between the two clubs.

By the time of the final whistle, A1 Challenge were [62:23] up, and this comes
just in time to boost up their confidence before their game with Gladiators B.C on
Friday 6:30pm and climaxing it up with KCCA Leopards on Sunday 12:00pm, respectively
at the YMCA Courts.

UCU Lady Canons Race Past A1 Challenge [68:50] In The ANBL

UCU Lady Canons Race Past A1 Challenge [68:50] In The ANBL

With kick off coming at a strange time of 2pm at the YMCA Outdoor Courts,
A1 Challenge and Lady Canons took to the court and solely aiming at getting
maximum points as opposed to the one sided leg that was seen in UCU Courts
Mukono earlier in the round one. It was a fiery match up between Purity Adhiambo and Bazira Liz
but clearly the A1 Challenge big men needed more support from the back court which
did not show up at all. Some would call this a bad day in office, but clearly
we can not keep having excuses for losing to sides we should be favorably competing with
for positions 1,2 and 3 respectively in the regular season.

A1 Challenge Register Another Well Fought Win Over Magic Stormers. [70:54]

A1 Challenge Register Another Well Fought Win Over Magic Stormers. [70:54]

The Magic Stormers came into this game a little lacking in squad depth
though they had the services Feni Belinda who did not feature in the earlier enounter
because a foot injury though Ms.Meme Rukia, Ms.Nado Uwamapeace were unavailable
because of She Cranes national team commitments and injury respectively.

A1 Challenge were also without Anyango Winnie who had other commitments, Nakazibwe Sylivia
who is undergoing knee injury rehabilitation aggravated at the University Games in Korea
and Namukasa Betty who also in camp with the She Cranes national netball team.

Having said that A1 Challenge had a momentarily lapse in concentration in the earlier minutes
of the Q1, but quickly picked themselves up and raged on like they were on fire. Defensively
as a unit, i am sure Coach Mavita Ali must have been impressed with the way the team played and
offensively Ms. Olivia Mulwana had a monstrous game shooting 5 of her 6 shots on the 3 point line
amassing 19 points on the day. Hatima Kassim also with 13 points and Ntale Vickie with 14 points to
her name. Magic Stormers Feni Belinda 17 points to her name.

A1 Challenge proved to be too much of a challenge for the Magic Stormers outfit. A1 Challenge are 2 in 2
since the second round began and will look to maintain the winning momentum.

A1 Challenge Grind A Hard Fought Win Against KIU Rangers [71:68]

After a false start, A1 Challenge played catch up from the first quarter to the last.
The first half was a no-show for the ladies from individual plays, to poor defensive discipline, to not sticking to the plays called by the coaching staff.

KIU Rangers Ms. Florence Nanyonga exploiting the leaking A1 Challenge defense and nailing a game high 26 points, closely helped offensively by Aisha Nakabubi with 12 points.

A1 Challenge picked themselves up and began closing in KIU Rangers, and by the end of the 4th Quarter 4, Amoding Maureen's pointer took A1 Challenge up by a point [68:69] and the full court press defense chocked the KIU Rangers in-bound play, Ms Obua Desire made the steal and sunk the basket. Final Score was [71:68]

Ms.Ondiso Vickie and Amoding Maureen were on 12 and 10 points, respectfully.

A1 Challenge Defeated By UCU Lady Canons 65:37 At UCU Home Court

A1 Challenge Defeated By UCU Lady Canons 65:37 At UCU Home Court

Match VII. (May.24, 2015) - The A1 Challenge Basketball Club faced a tricky tie in UCU Mukono as they were away in their first face off with the UCU Lady Canons. The A1 Challenge team was looking to bounce back from their loss to the defending champions a week ago. So this game was a perfect opportunity to make a statement against another top notch rival.

That withstanding, A1 Challenge lost the game 65-37 against an efficient UCU side on Sunday, moving them to 6-6 for the regular season as for A1 Challenge are 3-6.

Ms. Ondiso Vickie, led the A1 Challenge' offense with Momo Amoding managing 10 points against the Canons. Vilma, Lorraine Akinyi and Purity Adhiambo gave the defense a lot of work and thinking and adjusting to do.

A1 Challenge will play KIU Rangers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in KIU Court, Kansanga. They narrowly won this similar fixture barely a month ago and this time around they will be hoping that Florence Nanyonga is taken care of seeing that her Game high 26 points almost left a sour taste in their mouth if it was not for Moryn's splash 3-pointer and Ms. Desire Obua's press which forced a turn over which she comfortably went on to lay up and the game was won in the last 20 seconds of the game [71-69].

The 121 Gun Salute. Rude Awakening....

When A1 Challenge came face to face with the newly Amazon Rhino team, it was an all out full court press. Offensive from the go. They succeeded in forcing a number of turnovers which they severely punished.

By half time, A1 Challenge had established a 30 point difference between them and their opponents on the day [58:28]
It was all systems go for the seond half of the game and by the end of the game, Amazon Rhino were left dejected with this baptism of fire handed over to them. Full time score was [121:44]

Score Sheet: Ntale Victoria; 22points, Kizza Elizabeth; 21 points, Maureen Amoding; 17 points, Birungi Joannah; 12 points, Nantongo Agnes and Olivia Mulwana both with 11 points respectively. Hatima Kassim was not going to miss the party with 10 points to her name.

Amazons Berocan Brendah was the only player with double figures to her name as the rest of the team will quickly be hoping to put this all behind them, and start picking up points seeing this is a back to back loss, having fallen to KCCA Leopards over the weekend [39;69]

A1 Challenge will use this as a confidence booster as they face KIU Rangers on Wednesday and a massive repeat of the season opener on Friday against defending champs in KCCA Leopards, with a point to prove this time around.

We will be hoping to welcome back Ms. Namukasa Betty and the latest signing fresh from winning the Zuku All Stars championship and MVP accolade competition, in Ms Winnie Anyango.

This is going to be a week of gauging how far the team has come, and i can guarantee you the camp working very hard to make this a season to remember.

A1 Challenge Register Win Against Nkumba Lady Marines. 58:54

A1 Challenge Register Win Against Nkumba Lady Marines. 58:54
A1 Challenge came against a determined university outfit in Nkumba Lady Marines who tried and pushed till the last moments of the game.

But the opposition always ensured they had their heads up a notch. With a particularly resilient offensive show from Vickie Ondiso just returning from Kenya. Vickie had 16 points to her name with a great deal of assist from Ms. Hatima Kassim with 14 points and Nantongo Agnes with 10 points, a great deal of their scoring came in the 2nd half of the game.

The team was without a great deal of their players in Babra Okot, Gloria Kyomugisha, Maureen Amoding, Betty Namukasa, Olivia Mulwana to mention but a few. Ms.Mpulungi Sumin was handed her debut for A1 Challenge and she will be hoping to quickly settle into the team. Ntale Vickie joined the party late in the 3rd quarter and provided fresh legs to further seal off the A1 Challenge win.

Nanjala Diane of the Lady Marines and Apolot Esther tried to upstage A1 Challenge with their 11 points and 20 points respectively, but cohesively they did not have support from the rest of the cast.

Despite Ms. Apolot Esther's game high 20 points, she still ended up on the losing side.

A1 Challenge will be hoping the rest of the players got a well deserved rest, as they face off with the Gladiators early on Sunday morning, 10:00am.
