A1 CHALLENGE 50:57 KCCA LEOPARDS
Well it was quite a season opener if you ask me as KCCA Leopards came face to face against A1 Challenge.
Usual suspects featured in this juicy encounter, with Carol Nantalo, Namayega Josephine and Flavia Oketcho all playing vital roles on court and coming off the bench respectively.
KCCA Leopards had a slight edge especially when cohesion as a team is concerned. Flavia Oketcho sinking 14 points and threading a couple of brilliant passes off the defense onto the transition.
Carol Nantalo, Josephine Namayega and Flavia having decent games.
Whatever the A1 Challenge's technical team told the players seemed to work.
Mulwana Olivia and Kyomugisha Gloria rested in the last quarter and Nakazibwe Sylvia was handed the point guard duty and my oh my did it work. She lifted up the team's enthusiasm when she orchestrated beautiful finishes and inter-play with Larresah Kabuji.
There was a beautiful or rather tele-pathy understanding between Kyomugisha Gloria and Maggie, Larresah and Sylvia. But one thing is clear, there is alot of heavy legs which is obviously because the league is just beginning.
The two had a good game both offensively and defensively. Team A1 Challenge presented KCCA Leopard biting their nails as they closed a once 20 point difference to 7 points, which resurgence was in the fourth quarter.
POSITIVES:
Seeing Kikaazi Carol back on court was a huge positive and her presence brings options to Coach Jeff. Her ball handling, movement and game reading ability is priceless. Having featured in hardly four games last season we only hope that her return is a little more long term.
Also returning were Maggie and Aggie returning from their long break since mid-last season and believe you me when these particular ladies get match fit, we wait to see the damage that can be done.
Bazira Liz did not feature in this game, she wasn't even on the substitutes bench. We will try and dig around to figure out why? Having said that, KCCA Leopards also were without their big centre Ms. Hamala Miriam who also was spotted around but didn't play.
Ladies the shooting on the line was alittle disappointing but we can most definitely improve on that during practise.
Coach Jeff will have to stir the A1 Challenge to bring it on HARD from the first quarter till the final whistle, because after that late resurgence, there's no telling what will stop A1 Challenge in this 2012/13 season.
Its on this note that we would love to wish former coach Mr. Nyambogo Hamza all the best in his endeavors and we gladly welcome Mr. Geoffrey Omondi to the A1 Challenge family.
What can we say......we are hopeful and expectant.
Lets make this season memorable because nothing is impossible.
HARD WORK, HUSSLE, LOYALTY, RESPECT and TEAM WORK all for the girl-child.
IF WE BELIEVE IT, AND PERCEIVE IT WE CAN ACHIEVE IT.
