The action was on by 18:30hrs with both teams having a moments silence for the loss of Maggie Nalubega(A1 Challenge's forward) dad.
A1 Challenge came hard and made their intentions known leading the first quarter 17:9. The hard and physical approach of the KIU Rangers couldn't save the Rangers ladies.
A little effort from Jacqueline, Hanifah and Judith Nanyonga could count for a little effort on the score sheet. The constant yelling from Coach Nimrod on the KIU technical bench talking about calming down the play could not save them. Hanifah scoring a game high 21 points most of them were 3 pointers.
Having said that, A1 Challenge put up a solid team performance and hats off to Ntale Victoria who played her hearts out both defensively and offensively. It is no wonder she scored vital 16 points.
Generally speaking the A1 Challenge team had a rock solid team performance with Bazira Lizzie doing excellently well on the defensive re-bounds department. Assisted majorly by Kabuji Larry.
A case in point is when Bazira Lizzie caught the Rangers defense on the break and executed the quick one-two pass with Mulwana Olivia for quick points on the board.
The closest KIU Rangers came to leveling the scores was in the second quarter when A1 Challenge led by a margin of just a point (26-25).
Coach Geoffrey Omondi carefully using his guards, Carol, Olivia and Slyvia and sparingly utilising the resources that were available.
The final whistle brought an end to one of the league's fierce and physical rivalries. With faint smiles from Olivia and Lizzie after back-to-back wins, said it all. One game at a time.
Score by the quarter (17:9),(26:25),(47:39),(66:52)
